NPPSF
- Who We Are
Since the North Platte Public Schools Foundation's inception in 1994, the non-profit organization has been dedicated to excellence in education in the North Platte Public Schools. The Foundation grants funds that go beyond the regular school budget so educators can provide extraordinary learning opportunities for children Kindergarten through the 12th grade.
While the Foundation in an independent non-profit organization, it is really an extension of the community. Our work is the work of the people of North Platte as well as those outside our city who invest in the potential of our children and youth.
The generosity of people is what drives the North Platte Public School Foundation. Every feat accomplished by the Foundation is the product of people who make a gift, share their talent and give their time.
Mission Statement
The North Platte Public Schools Foundation,
Inc. is dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities for North Platte Public Schools' students by:
 |
Providing expanded educational opportunities for all students.
|
 |
Providing grants to support innovative instructional programs to strengthen and enrich the public education curriculum.
|
 |
Reinforcing a positive relationship between the community and our schools.
|
School district budgets get tighter each year. Districts struggle with many of the same challenges facing the business community: rising health care costs for employees and their families, rising costs for utilities and facility maintenance, competition for qualified workers and more. The fixed costs make it harder and harder for schools to provide the “extras” that can make a difference in a young person’s education.
Therefore, the mission of the NPPS Foundation becomes more and more important as time goes on. We hope that you share the belief that our youth represent the future of our community and deserve your support. We appreciate being considered as a beneficiary of your charitable dollars, and we pledge to use those dollars wisely.
Our Work
The way in which children and youth can be supported are vast and varied. Likewise, the NPPS Foundation works in many different ways. At the heart of what the Foundation does are two kinds of efforts – removing obstacles and fueling student achievement. These two kinds of efforts extend to a number of activities:
- Our Prepared to Learn Program helps children and youth surmount the obstacles that impede their school success. We close a gap or provide immediate assistance to a student in need.
- We award REACH grants to educators who pioneer innovative ideas to engage and inspire students.
- The Foundation administers 24 pass-thru accounts, created by individuals like you that want to give back to a specific need. These accounts can be established at anytime and are donor directed in their use.
- We administer scholarships for individuals and families, totaling over $330,000 in scholarship funds.
- Our Class Act Campaign gives NPPS staff members the opportunity to donate to the Foundation, creating funding opportunities for staff scholarships and student needs.
- The Foundation works with NPHS alumni to assist in class reunion planning and other
alumni programs.

A message from the
Executive Director…..
Jackie
Lucas
As Executive Director of the North Platte Public Schools Foundation, I want to extend a warm and affectionate greeting to all NPPS alumni, teachers and administrators, both past and present, students, parents and friends. The North Platte Public Schools Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities for North Platte Public School students by providing expanding educational opportunities for all students. The Foundation is a separate entity from North Platte Public Schools, and, consequently, the Foundation is responsible for raising its own funds to operate and carry out its
mission.
The Foundation’s Prepared to Learn Program has helped children and youth surmount the obstacles that impede their school success. We close a gap or provide immediate assistance to a student in need. The Foundation awards REACH grants to North Platte teachers who pioneer innovative ideas to engage and inspire students. We have awarded $152,366 to North Platte educators to date. The NPPS Foundation administers 24 pass-thru accounts, created by individuals like you that want to give back to a specific need. To continue our work, the Foundation needs your help and support.
Foundation Board members are community volunteers who have graciously given their time and energy. It is an honor and
privilege for me to serve as their Executive Director. This experience has given me the opportunity to witness the depth of commitment demonstrated by our North Platte Public School teachers and administrators, and to also appreciate the efforts by the achievements of our current NPHS students.
