Marge Beatty
Marge Beatty, lives in Sutherland, Nebraska and is the Administrator of Educational Service Unit #16. She is a graduate of North Platte High School, Kearney State College; Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana; and the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Ms. Beatty is currently a member of the Nebraska Council of School Administrators; Nebraska School Masters Club; Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association; Nebraska Association of School Boards; Nebraska Educational Service Unit Coordinating Council, National Association of School Administrators; American Association of Educational Service Agencies and the National School Boards Association.
For 22 years, Mrs. Beatty served on the Sutherland Board of Education, holding the office of President for 10 years. She has held state offices on Nebraska Council of School Administrators and the Nebraska School Boards Association. She is the current President of the Nebraska Educational Service Unit Coordinating Council and Past President of the Sutherland Mrs. Jaycees, the Ogallala Big Mac Kiwanis Club, the Nebraska Aid Association for Lutherans, Branch 9213 and the Nebraska Association of Special Education Supervisors.
Mrs. Beatty has received numerous awards that include: the Nebraska Association of Special Education Supervisors’ “Distinguished Educator Service Award” for “Vision and Leadership on Behalf of All Children”; the “University of Nebraska at Kearney to “Distinguished Leadership and Service in Educational Administration” Award; the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Award for “Outstanding Board Member”; the “Meritorious Service Award” given by the Nebraska Speech,/Language and Hearing Association; and the Distinguished Service award from the Nebraska Council of School Administrators, the most prestigious award given to an Education Administrator in the State of Nebraska.
Governor’s appointments include Governor Bob Kerry’s appointment to the Interstate Commission for Special Education; Governor Ben Nelson’s appointment to the Special Education Finance Review Commission; and Governor Mike Johann’s appointment to the Early Childhood Inter-Agency Coordinating Council. Ms. Beatty has served as the Adult Sponsor for the State of Nebraska Lutheran Youth Organization as well as Youth Sponsor and visiting minister for the ELCA Church in Sutherland. She has served a 6-year term on the Great Plains Regional Medical Center Board.
Recently, she was chosen as a coach for the Nebraska Educational Leadership Institute, a leadership and mentoring program for new administrators. Marge has published articles in state and national education journals and has served as a guest speaker for numerous Universities and at state and national conferences. She created and trained facilitators throughout the state of Nebraska in a process titled “Essential Finance Planning, a Proactive Approach to Community Decision Making in Tough Economic Times.
Ms. Beatty and her husband, Ken, have two children, Ryan and wife Missy Beatty of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kendra and husband Dave Schneider of Omaha, Nebraska. Besides her passion for Education and Community Service, she loves spending time with her family and four beautiful Grandchildren.
