Prepared to Learn Program
Created in Spring 2010, the Prepared to Learn program works to remove barriers of learning. Unfortunately, there are students that arrive to school every day that are not prepared to learn in our classrooms. Often times, the issues that are affecting the child’s ability to learn are small financially but very large in relationship to this child. The Foundation’s Prepared to Learn Program has already helped with broken eyeglasses, nutritional needs during the school day, lack of appropriate clothing, student activity cards, and necessary school supplies, just to name a few!
Prepared to Learn Mission Statement:
The Prepared to Learn Program is designed to provide immediate assistance to acquire appropriate elements crucial to a student’s academic, emotional and social success in a confidential manner.
How are students selected for assistance?
In an effort to provide immediate assistance to students in need, all 13 schools in the North Platte School District have a Prepared to Learn Committee member in their building. Students are identified by a NPPS Staff Member and Prepared to Learn committee members are ready to assist that student immediately.
What type of assistance is available?
Any type of assistance that will make a student more successful in the classroom will be considered. Community resources will also be used to help fulfill needs when available.
