2019 Scholarships Announced

The 2019 Scholarship season is upon us. Thanks to our generous donors the Foundation administers over $300,000 in scholarships for graduating NPHS Seniors. Congratulations to the class of 2019.


Ainsley Thimes has been awarded the North Platte Public Schools Foundation Scholarship. Ainsley is the daughter of Christopher and Kimberly Thimes and plans to pursue a degree in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

In high school she has been active in Cheerleading, Speech and Debate, Music, Student Council and National Honor Society.


Daphanie Ham has been awarded the Michelle (Collins) Speer Memorial Scholarship.

Daphanie is the daughter of Rob and Andrea Ham. Daphanie plans to attend Lincoln Southwest Community College and become a Respiratory Therapist.


Codi Guerrieri has been awarded the Sally S. Jochum Memorial Scholarship. Codi is the daughter of Dusty and Tonya Guerrieri.

Codi plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and major in Animal Science. She hopes to one day be a Veterinarian.


Jacob Cahill has been awarded the Margie Tysdal Arts Scholarship. Jacob is the son of Elizabeth and Steven Cahill. He is active in music, both in and out of school. Cahill is a member of the band, jazz ensemble, orchestra and does private teaching.

Cahill has earned several awards, including being a principal alto sax at NMEA all-state band, MTNA state woodwind soloist winner and MTNA regional honorable mention. He has earned an academic letter, medaling in band for two years. Jacob plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and Major in Music Education.


Abbie Hedgecock has been awarded the Merle Bauer Memorial Scholarship. Hedgecock, the daughter of Jeff and Jalea Hedgecock, is a 4.0 honor roll student and has been active in Volleyball, Soccer and Basketball.

She plans to major in Occupational Therapy.

Megan Shannon has been awarded the Armin & Ida Ruff Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a Senior who is the dependent of a North Platte Public School Employee. Megan is the daughter of Lynette Shannon and Scott Shannon.

Megan has been active in concert band, marching band, choir and the school musicals. She plans to attend Mid Plains Community College and study nursing.


Jacob Gutshenritter has been awarded the Naranjo Family Community Service Scholarship. Jacob is the son of Todd and Michelle Gutschenritter. Jacob is active in the JV Ambassadors program at Great Plains Health and volunteers in the emergency department. He has obtained over 255 hours of service. Jacob plans to attend the University of Nebraska Kearney and major in Pre-Med. He hopes to one day return to rural Nebraska and practice medicine.

In high school Jacob has been active in Swim Team, Golf, National Honor Society, Band, Choir, Varsity Jazz Ensemble and a part of the Mid Plains Community College health science career academy.


Maceyn Howard has been awarded the Butch Tysdal Cowboy Ethics Scholarship and the Naranjo Family Community Service Scholarship. Maceyn is the daughter of David and Jodi Howard

In high school Maceyn was a letter winning athlete in Cross Country, Swim Team and Track. She was also an inaugural officer for the FFA. Maceyn is an 11 year 4-Her, served on the Lincoln County 4-H Council for 2 years and has held the titles of Elwood Rodeo Princess, Sutherland Rodeo Jr. Queen and Miss Rodeo Ogallala Roundup. She is an active volunteer for the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Lil Cowgirls. She has logged over 200 hours of community service.

Maceyn has signed a letter of intent to ride both hunt seat and western on the Colby Community College Equestrian team. She plans to pursue a degree in Veterinary Technology.

Brook Chromy has been awarded the Naranjo Family Community Service Scholarship. Brook is the son of Dan and Shelly Chromy.

Brook has been involved with Boy Scouts for 10 years and has earned 37 Boy Scout Merit Badges. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout in 2018. Brook also serves as a student ministry leader at his church.

In high school Brook has been active in Spanish Club, Circle of Friends and National Honor Society

Brook plans on majoring in Education at Mid Plains Community College and UNK and hopes to one day be a Secondary Education Teacher.


Colton Ogden has been awarded the Naranjo Family Community Service Scholarship and the George Wemple Memorial Scholarship. Colton is the son of Renae and Travis Ogden.

Colton has logged over 200 hours volunteering with the Boy Scouts. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout in 2018 and also served as the Senior Patrol Leader.

In High School he has been active in Skills USA. He plans to attend Southeast Community College in Lincoln and obtain a welding degree.
